Hermit

It's very difficult to be alone in this connected age. There's always phone, sms and emails to keep you company. But it is possible to be lonely.

Wife and kids are away. Office is dull and listless...when did working-from-home become the default standard? I find it difficult to work from home - there's no human contact!

Have been trying to reconnect with all the old-school chums. Met folks in Bangalore, Bombay, Pune and Delhi last month. Amazingly, it takes an outside "guest" to bring all the folks together. Everyone's doing well in their careers, so there's no competition or jealousy like the olden days.

The network of people in elite positions is thriving. Not so all other connections...

Are we losing contact with each other as a society? People in the office, the neighborhood, and everywhere in between are just nameless, faceless agents who could be sub-human for all I care? Were human beings designed for this sort of non-verbal, non-physical interactivity?

No wonder you seem all philosophical and distracted these days...to much home-work!
